Optimize manufacturing systems

Using modular design, Modular Management can help you determine the optimal location for product design and manufacturing on a per-module basis. In the diagram, a product consisting of four modules is shown.

Platform management owns architecture, defines and controls interfaces. Each main market has product development centers that develop modules within the platform. Styling and regional performance requirements captured by quality function deployment are adjusted to each market. Production is located near the relevant resources which support supply chain optimization

A flexible manufacturing system allows for final assembly at many sites chosen based on low labor cost, correct skill set or geographic proximity to the customer. Module A is developed and produced in Europe and sent to final assembly locations. Module B is developed and produced close to the local market. Modules C and D are common units and developed in Europe, but produced in Asia.
